Building upon the success of last year’s trip to Porto, where fellow FranU students explored global perspectives on aging, we are thrilled to announce the upcoming visit of Porto students to our campus. Students from Porto will soon embark on their own journey to the United States, fostering cross-cultural exchange and collaboration in the field of gerontology and we can’t wait to see them.
In September 2024, we are launching an immersive course and welcoming two faculty members and eight students to the Gerontology department at FranU from Porto, Portugal! The course will begin here in Baton Rouge, where we’ll engage in lectures and site visits to FMOL ministries, gaining first-hand insight into geriatric care and community support. We will then continue to New Orleans where we’ll explore the Catholic influence on healthcare for aging populations, fostering discussions and interactions with local experts.
