Love And Growing Older

Whether you are single, dating, or have been married for many years, today is a good day to reflect on the love in our lives.

Many older adults deal with loneliness, either due to divorce or death of their spouse. According to Dr. Maria Baratta in Psychology Today, many older who find themselves single may feel that they are “past their prime” or don’t feel worthy of love due to years of dysfunctional relationships. She discusses her 3 tips for finding love when you’re older here.

AARP discusses the benefits of finding love later in life here. According to this article, some of  the benefits of being an older couple include feeling sure of yourself and a lesser likelihood of compromising the things that are important to you.

Why not take some time today to talk to your partner about your favorite memories together, or things you want to do together in the future? If you are single and proud, then spend today on self-care and focusing on what you love about yourself.

It is also a good time to reflect on God’s love for us, as is described in Romans 8:37-39

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Here is to celebrating love!
